    • Notes: Me (STU) and FI had a refresher flight (topic: manouvering) on a windy winter morning. We noticed a calm 70 kt wind at 3000 ft and went for the flight. We requested a TA upwind but never made it because of the headwind (or we would've but it would've taken at least half an hour). The air space was empty so we requested to practice on a TA near the field. There was no turbulence so we decided to make the slow flight into the wind. The ground speed got smaller and smaller until it went to zero and beyond. The FI knew that it wouldn't show minus knots so the only way to determine the negative ground speed is to see difference between HDG and track (which differ in the picture). The slowest speed I saw was -29 kt but picture was taken only from -25 kt. It was so much fun to be in an airplane which is perfectly fine flying but goes backwards so fast that air field is "going past us" :D When we were ready to end the flight we went 157 kt GS downwind at 600 ft.
